Just a reminder when dealing with those who deal with the public. Be kind, and take a few minutes out of your day to do something nice. I’ve given different examples on this before as this is a message I put out at least a few times a year, but I was reminded of it today when I was on the phone to choose my new PCP for insurance.

The woman was nice and did her job well, and then when asked if I wanted to take the survey at the end, instead of doing what I know we tend to do ” I don’t have time for this crap” then hang up, take the extra few minutes to do something nice for the person and give them a good survey.

A few years back I remember being on the Bus and seeing a phone line to call if you had issues with your driver. I thought to myself how many people actually call that line to say something GOOD about their driver?

It is a good meritorious thing to be kind and make someones day by doing something as simple as acknowledging their humanity, their good work, and giving them the benefit of the doubt if you have a minor bad experience with them, as you don’t know what they may be going through. I know first hand that dealing with the public is not easy, but trust me when I tell you that they remember the people who are nice to them, because those people are the outliers 😉.

  1. Great Post Bhante! Our thoughts can be bus passengers in our mind. Thank you for sharing.

  2. Thanks for the reminder Bhante.
I had a nice lady go out of her way to help me at a store. I will figure out how to reach her boss tomorrow and give her a good review.
